
Level 2 Award in Assisting in Basic Expedition Leadership
The Sports Leaders UK Level 2 Award in Assisting in Basic
Expedition Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that
provides an ideal starting point for learners who are aged 16 years
and over and who wish to develop their outdoor leadership
skills.
The Level 2 Award in Assisting in Basic Expedition Leadership is
a practical qualification in which learners must demonstrate their
ability to lead others. The aim of the qualification is to prepare
responsible, motivated and confident leaders that can assist during
expeditions in lowland countryside.
- Age: 16+ (please note, there is no upper age
limit for this qualification)
- Guided learning hours: 57 hours (including 12
hours demonstration of leadership)

of the course only, but not exceeding 12 months)

The Level 2 Award in Assisting in Basic Expedition
Leadership has five units of work including 12 hours demonstration
of leadership:

The qualification will take approximately 57 guided learning
hours. However, various factors such as the learner/tutor ratio,
the number of learners, and the experience levels of the learners
will influence the time allocated to the delivery of any given
course.
Demonstration of Leadership
In order for your learners to complete their Level 2 Award in
Assisting in Basic Expedition Leadership they must
complete 12 hours demonstration of leadership as part of Unit 2.
The 12 hours demonstration of leadership must take
place at the end of the training, before the two hour independent
assessment.
