A Step By Step Guide To Running Your Course
Information gathering
Read the information about available awards and qualifications to
see which is most appropriate for your learners.
Apply to become an Approved Assessment Centre (AAC) for
the qualification/s you want to deliver and apply for your first
course
Apply online
or download an AAC Application Form and Course
Application Form. If necessary, a support visit by a
regional Sports Leaders UK staff member can be arranged.
Find out more information on becoming an AAC and applying for your
first course.
A member of the Sports Leaders UK Quality Assurance
Team will contact you to arrange a date and time for your
accreditation
All applications for AAC status and first courses will be
accredited by a member of the Sports Leaders UK staff.
CD-ROM Tutor Resource
When you become an AAC, you will receive a copy of the
Qualifications That Change Lives CD-ROM Tutor Resource. Once you
submit a Course Application Form a free licence key-code will be
emailed to you. Using this resource, familiarise yourself with the
requirements of the award or qualifications before you go any
further.
Discuss within your team/department what you want out of the
course, how you will recruit learners, how it might fit in with
what you already offer and consider the budgetary implications for
your centre.
Do you need to attend Tutor Training?
Read the Tutor Training leaflet and/or information on our
website to decide whether or not you need to attend Tutor Training.
You can see a copy of the Tutor Training Decision
Tree here. Visit the Tutor Training page for information and
Tutor Training dates and venues.
Start your course
If you didn't state the number of Records of Achievement on your
Course Application Form, then confirm numbers with the Head Office
now. Once you receive your Records of Achievement you may start to
run your course. (Don't worry if you have started your course and
you are waiting to attend training. This is fine as long as you
have been accredited.)
Return the Learner Registration Forms
The Learner Registration Form from the Record of Achievement
must be completed and returned to Sports Leaders UK, for each
learner, within four weeks from the start date of your course.
These forms register each learner.
Deliver your course
Make sure that the Internal Verifier visits as appropriate, and
that you are recording your assessment decisions on an Internal
Assessment Record.
Finish your course
At the end of the course you will sign off all units on the
Learner Certification Form in the Record of Achievement for each
learner. Remember to also ensure that you have signed to confirm
that each learner has a valid and current
First Aid certificate, and that you have signed to
confirm that you have seen a completed and
signed Independent Assessor Form. You must also have completed
your Internal Assessment Record and make sure that the Internal
Verifier has visited as appropriate.
Return the Learner Certification Form for each learner who has
successfully completed the course. We will then send certificates
and badges for these learners.
Apply for your next
course!
