Compulsory National Governing Body Award
In order for your learners to complete their Level 3 Certificate
in Higher Sports Leadership they must gain a National Governing
Body award as a compulsory requirement of the qualification.
The Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) recognises this
compulsory requirement as 'Entry Requirements', although the name
is misleading; Sports Leaders UK require this component to be
completed before certification, not before learners start the
course. Your learners may choose from a variety of National
Governing Body awards, however what they choose must be
current and valid.
Current: Some awards have an expiry date. In
order for a National Governing Body award to be recognised, it must
still be in date when the Learner Certification Form is returned to
Sports Leaders UK.
Valid: There are a number of different National
Governing Body awards on the open market. Sports Leaders UK do not
mind which award your learners choose to do, just as long as it is
an assessed award or qualification.
What is accepted as an National Governing
Body award?
Sports Leaders UK will accept an award or qualification that is
assessed in any of the sports recognised by the Home Countries
Sports Councils. A list of these can be found at Sport England
- Which sports do we recognise?
Please Note: Sports Leaders UK recognises the
awards from the sports, so if a recognised National Governing Body
is not present, a body that delivers the sports courses will be
accepted as long as the sport itself is recognised.
As a Tutor/Assessor you will need to bear this in mind when
planning this part of your course.
