There are 46 training dates throughout the UK during
the 2010/11 academic year. Each of these days will host
workshops covering the Level 1
Award in Sports Leadership, the Level 2 Award in Sports Leadership and
the Level 2 Award in Community Sports
Leadership. These days will only be suitable for new
tutors who have not attended Sports Leaders UK Tutor Training in
the past.

Overview of Tutor Training Workshops
Level 1 Award in Sports
Leadership
This briefing is suitable for anyone who works predominantly with
candidates who are 13 years and older (there is no age limit on
this qualification). It is intended for new
tutors of the Level 1 Award
in Sports Leadership that have not previously
received training for this qualification. This classroom based
briefing aims to provide a general overview of the
qualification. The areas that will be covered include Learning
Outcomes and Assessment Criteria, delivery ideas, assessment
procedures and quality assurance expectations.
Level 2
Award in Sports Leadership & Level 2 Award in Community Sports
Leadership
This classroom based briefing is suitable for anyone who works with
candidates who are 14 years and older. The Level 2 Award in Sports Leadership
is for candidates who are 14 years and older, and the Level 2 Award in Community Sports
Leadership is for candidates who are 16 years and older.
This briefing will walk you through each qualification detailing
the Learning Outcomes and Assessment Criteria, delivery ideas,
assessment procedures and quality assurance expectations.
The Workshops on Teaching Leadership 1 & 2
These practically based workshops are suitable for all new
tutors who have not attended Tutor Training in the past. All
delegates will attend these sessions if attending the Level 1 Award in Sports
Leadership and the Level 2 Award in Sports Leadership/Level 2 Award in Community Sports
Leadership briefings. During the Teaching
Leadership 1 & 2 workshops, we will convey the difference
between teaching sports based activities and teaching leadership
skills. This notion will be investigated over two, one
hour practical workshops.
Although these workshops involve a certain degree of practical
activity, they are designed to teach important lessons about
leadership, not to test your physical ability or sporting prowess
but please wear suitable clothes and
footwear.
Sports Leaders UK News
This briefing session provides an opportunity to find out about
the full range of Sports Leaders UK awards and qualifications, and
hear all the latest developments within the world of sports
leadership.
Ideas Surgery Workshop
This workshop is for anyone who does not need to attend the
Level 2 Award in Sports
Leadership/Level 2 Award in Community
Sports Leadership briefing. The workshop features a
generic practical activity that will reinforce an area that has
been covered throughout the day. Also, some implementation
strategies will be looked at and discussed. This activity will give
you food for thought about how you can teach your candidates
the principles behind leadership.
Network/Afternoon Break
This extended break provides the ideal opportunity for delegates
to network, make contacts and share useful ideas. There will also
be lots of resources available for delegates to look at, and staff
will be on hand to answer questions.
